Morning Coffee & a Daydream: How Asha Started

With a name unestablished and years ahead of us, we found our mutual love of coffee over a tiny two-person table in a studio apartment. We were a new couple sharing a pour over, have those early conversations around goals, ambitions, and day dreams.

Life eventually took us to different states, turning our daily coffee hour into one long-distance savored moment. Distance has a way of making you rely solely on your words, and for two years our talks continued, but this time by coffee shared through a screen.

Eventually, life brought us together again and coffee was right there beside us. One morning, while we laid in bed discussing what felt so far off, the question was asked: “What would we name a coffee business, if we ever had one?” Following a singular moment of silence, the word “Asha” emerged.

While Asha holds many meanings, to us it’s always held the same ground: it means to look beyond yourself and wish for the betterment of all beings, even those whose journeys may never touch your own. It is a quiet act of selflessness.

Right then, we knew it; we had the perfect name for our coffee business.

Asha serves as our mission to connect with our community, our friends, and those strangers soon to be friends. We’re here to wish you well on your journey, no matter where you are.
